Pueblo County Courthouse for Civil Cases
The Pueblo County Courthouse is at 501 N. Elizabeth St in Pueblo, Colorado. This is the main court building for the 10th Judicial District. The phone number is 719-404-8700. All civil lawsuits for Pueblo and the rest of Pueblo County are filed here. The building houses both the district court and the county court. District court handles civil cases of any dollar amount. County court takes smaller disputes up to $25,000. Small claims court, which is a division of county court, hears cases up to $7,500.
The Clerk of Court keeps all civil case files and manages public access to records. You can walk into the clerk's office during business hours and ask to see a civil case file. If you have the case number, the clerk can pull the file quickly. Name searches are also available for $5 if you do not know the case number. Pueblo residents use this courthouse for everything from filing a new civil claim to getting certified copies of an old judgment. The Pueblo County court page on the Judicial Branch website has current contact information and hours.
The Pueblo Municipal Court at 200 S. Main St (719-553-2666) handles city code and traffic violations only. It does not hear civil lawsuits. You cannot file a civil case or search for civil records at the municipal court in Pueblo.
Note: The 10th Judicial District covers Pueblo County exclusively, so all Pueblo civil cases stay in this one courthouse.
How to Search Pueblo Civil Court Records
Online searches through CoCourts are one of the quickest ways to look up civil court records in Pueblo. Enter a party name and the system searches across all Colorado courts. A statewide search costs $10. A search without Denver costs $5. The results include the Register of Actions for each matching case. CoCourts does not let you download the actual filed documents, but the Register of Actions gives you enough detail to figure out the status of a Pueblo civil case.
The Pueblo County docket search is a free tool on the Judicial Branch website. It shows upcoming hearings for Pueblo civil cases. You can see what date a case is set for trial, what motions are pending, and which judge is assigned. This works well if you just need a quick look at the schedule. It does not show the full case history, though. For that, you need CoCourts or an in-person visit to the Pueblo County clerk.
In-person searches at the courthouse are straightforward. Go to the clerk's office, ask for the case file, and review it on site. There is no charge to look at the file. Copies cost $0.25 per page. Certified copies are $20 per document. The clerk can also tell you if a case has been sealed or if any parts of the file are restricted under Chief Justice Directive 05-01.
